Femininity is a cult. And we’re all playing into the game. I’ve made myself so small. I’ve shrunk my bones down to pencils. I’ve flattened myself like wallpaper. Why? All in the sake of the glory that be: femininity.
I enjoy this discussion of what makes us shrink ourselves. I learned to do it because I was bullied as a child, so the smaller and less noticeable I tried to make myself, the less I'd be bullied. So I thought.
I hear that, entirely. There are so many events that can trigger our learning that it would be beneficial to shrink. But so often, they're all just lies we're telling ourselves, eh?
It's that combo of someone lying to us, trying to show us we're not enough, that we don't belong, and then we buy into it after hearing it enough and we perpetuate the lie to ourselves. Thanks, devil brain!

It's hard to undo.
